Senior Windows Analyst (Application Services) - Tunbridge Wells / Bristol / Bolton - 3 month contract

Senior Analyst (Application Services) required to join a multinational insurance company based in Tunbridge Wells, Bristol or Bolton on an initial 3 month contract.

The Role:

Suitable candidates must have the ability to support off the shelf windows applications such as Siebel, Actisure, P360, Business Objects, HP Application Lifecycle Management, Ektron, .NET and Java based applications, and will require an extensive knowledge of the underlying platforms and technologies which include Windows O/S, VMware ESX, IIS 6/7, .NET, Citrix, Enterprise Service Bus, UNIX: Solaris and RHEL, AD Group Policy, Networks, Firewalls and Proxy and Monitoring Tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for assigned applications or platforms, including out-of-hours as required
  • Fully engaged in Change management, Incident management and Problem management processes and perform all necessary duties to ensure compliance with them
  • Undertake problem determination and/or resolution to maintain and improve services to customers
  • Provide support and advice to the team and line management on Operational or Technical Issues
  • Share knowledge in areas of expertise in order to facilitate effective team operation
  • Develop and maintain technical and service documentation as required to ensure that quality services are delivered
  • Take personal ownership for own development and career planning, developing required skills, tools and techniques in order continually to add value to the organisation
  • Participate in project delivery, taking leading technical role as appropriate, to ensure the operability of delivered solutions

Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced support analyst with an excellent record in application support
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of:
    • A broad range of relevant technologies e.g. Windows O/S and Clustering, VMware ESX, Storage solutions, .NET environments, IIS, Citrix, Databases (Oracle RAC / SQL), UNIX: Solaris and RHEL, AD Group Policy, Networks, Firewalls and Proxy, MS Exchange, TSM, Monitoring Tools, Shell Scripting, DNS, Cisco CSS and ACE load balancing, Enterprise Service Bus, Apache Reverse Proxy, website security, https, website redirection
    • And how they support our applications, e.g. Siebel, Actisure, P360, Business Objects, HP Application Lifecycle Management, Ektron, Respond, .NET and Java based applications
  • Proven experience in resolving incidents and problem-solving under pressure, and managing change
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Understanding of the client's project management processes and methodology
  • Relevant ITIL practitioner experience
  • Business knowledge relevant to the team's applications in order to assess potential business impact of problems with or loss of those services
