Location: Warrington, Cheshire

Senior Waste Management Specialist - this new position has just become available with a leading specialist nuclear services organisation, due to team expansion and growth.

You will provide scientific and technical solutions for the delivery of customer funded tasks and projects. Work will specifically involve managing projects and tasks, but is also likely to involve supervising other staff and liaising with customers.

Project-based work will typically be on a range of desk-based consultancy projects for customers including radioactive waste producers, radioactive waste management organisations and regulators, both in the UK and overseas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use knowledge of waste management & environmental issues and requirements in the nuclear industry to lead and deliver technical tasks and projects.
  • Manage other technical staff in order to deliver projects
  • Ensure that technical solutions are compliant with the regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise and interface with other technical and engineering departments and, when required, with customers.
  • Be aware of the time, cost and quality constraints of tasks and projects, and work within these constraints.
  • Support colleagues in the delivery of their tasks and projects by drafting reports, attending meetings, supporting business development initiatives, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Scientific background, ideally in chemistry or environmental science.
  • Broad radioactive waste management experience, including experience of LoC preparation, Integrated Waste Strategy development, analysis of radioactive waste management problems; Radioactive Waste Management Case development; decontamination techniques; waste transportation; and waste processing and packaging
  • Experience of managing technical projects and tasks.
  • Commercial and business development skills will be considered a plus.
  • Experience of managing technical staff and interfacing with customers is advantageous.
