Senior Test Engineer

The role:

The Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering department are responsible for the development and introduction of new and modified processes and facilities, which are associated with new model introductions and model year changes within Assembly and Test.

You'll be responsible for developing the new, technologically advanced power train assembly facilities that are currently under design and manufacture, to support the client's powertrain initiatives.

You'll be a key part of the test team, working closely with product development engineers, facility vendors and tooling suppliers, to ensure that component and whole engine designs meet quality and efficiency standards.

  • Plan, develop and implement assembly and test processes and facilities
  • Provide feasibility statements for product development designs to suit manufacturing build requirements
  • Ensure robust process quality planning, including build simulations and FMEAs
  • Support virtual build events raising and championing issues where appropriate
  • Prepare, issue and evaluate supplier "Request for Quotations"


As a Senior Test Engineer, you'll have an awareness of Process Authoring Tool (GSPAS) as well as simulation and virtual toolsets. You'll be educated to degree level in Manufacturing systems or a similar engineering discipline. You'll have knowledge and experience of in-process test equipment, Dyno facilities, hot run cells, and cold testing as well as the ability to analyse and interpret performance data output from these facilities. Leadership qualities and the ability to direct a small team will be essential, along with previous experience of facility installation, commissioning and product launches.

You'll need:

  • To be self-motivated with sound leadership and communication skills
  • A good understanding of engineering including the ability to review engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of process capability and the ability to use Q-DAS software
  • The drive to achieve objectives and project milestones
