Senior Supply Chain Manager

£70,000 - £85,000 + Car + Benefits

We are looking to recruit a Senior Supply Chain Manager to join a dynamic team managing a comprehensive supply chain service for the UKs leading engineering support services provider based in Telford.

The organisation manage a 10 year contract to store, maintain, repair and overhaul military vehicles and equipment. This senior position will lead the supply chain team who plan and manage inventory, determine buy strategies and manage the warehousing and distribution of parts across the workshop operations. The diverse role will encompass material flow, warehousing, parts kitting, transport, returns, material control, planning, inventory management, parts management, operational procurement and supplier management.

Key deliverables will include improving performance metrics, establishing good business processes and managing complex stakeholder relationships.

  • Provide clear and strategic leadership to staff (c.100 heads) to ensure they have the appropriate skills, tools and motivation to ensure effective delivery of objectives
  • Deliver services to ensure good productivity enabled by a predictable and inherently capable supply chain
  • Support and respond to the requirements of Workshop Operations and other customers to ensure supply chain is considered in all matters and that the solutions applied can be delivered capably
  • Work with the customer teams to ensure each service type has an appropriate, deliverable, capable solution
  • Manage existing and develop new improvement projects to support implementation of the Operating Model and alignment to the business strategy.
  • Be responsible for the continuous improvement of the supply chain
  • Lead an inventory management approach to provide the best balance between cost and availability of parts
  • Drive good Sales, Inventory &Operational Planning practises
  • Provide performance management dashboards to support the function and use them to manage and improve service levels
  • Ensure management structures and practices within the teams as a whole support a culture of effective team working, continuous improvement and innovation.

Technical Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification and have recent experience in a senior capacity of supply chain management in a major complex organisation
  • Strong understanding of change management principles
  • Strong experience of operational management in a multi-site environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and expertise in managing change involving multi-disciplinary stakeholders/groups and the ability to deliver objectives within tight deadlines.
  • An ability to develop and sustain relationships with individuals at all levels in an organisation (both internal and external), including the ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience of developing business cases, programme reports, and giving presentations.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative working skills, and facilitation and coaching skills as evidenced through operating in a programme management environment.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK
  • Full driving licence
