Senior Supply Chain Manager - FTSE100 business


An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Supply Chain Manager working on a high profile engineering contract along with fantastic career progression opportunities.

The organisation is at FTSE100 business; the UK's leading provider of engineering support service to British Army. You'll be working as part of the organisation's Supply Chain and Procurement team reporting directly to the Head of Procurement.

Role Summary

The Senior Supply Chain Manager will lead the team to develop sourcing strategy, deliver best value procurement and effectively manage suppliers. The Senior Supply Chain Manager is responsible for a team of supply chain managers and support staff based in Aztec West, Bristol who are accountable for the delivery of a broad and complex supply chain with an annual spend in excess of £80m.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of supply chain managers and administrators
  • Deliver the procurement programme in line with project timescales
  • Developing supply chain solutions that support the delivery of contract service both in the UK and overseas.
  • Delivering key procurement activities to support the fleet replacement programme
  • Drafting tender and contract documents
  • Developing and implementing effective procurement strategies for fleet management operations
  • Managing strategic supplier relationships and performance
  • Meeting business targets on savings and performance
  • Taking the lead on strategic supplier negotiations
  • Managing supply chain risk
  • Developing Partnering Agreements and Service Level Agreements with key suppliers and developing relationships across the supply base
  • Supporting Business Development and New Projects
  • Developing supplier implementation plans for new products/projects
  • Contributing to cost reduction and cost avoidance targets
  • Driving innovation from supply chain partners
  • Interfacing with other procurement departments and the Group Fleet Category Lead
  • Supporting a continual improvement/culture across the procurement and supply chain function
  • Ensure Company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Degree level or significant equivalent experience
  • MCIPS or equivalent post grad qualification
  • Experience of CCS procurement practices (process and frameworks agreements)
  • Experience of supply chain management in a large organisations
  • Knowledge of European Union (EU) procurement regulations
  • Knowledge and experience of working with public sector procurement
  • Experience of Ministry of Defence (MOD) environment and working with Government customers
  • Experience of vehicle procurement contracts and markets
  • Experience of drafting terms and conditions
  • Full UK Driving licence
