Senior Stress Engineer (Nuclear)

FTSE 250 organization,

£45,000 - £50,000

I am recruiting on behalf of a FTSE 250 Engineering Organization and one of the market leaders in providing through life support to defence, marine and nuclear. This particular role functions within their nuclear, which provides engineering expertise to design, new build and decommissioning work across the UK.

The Senior Stress Engineer will be responsible for undertaking engineering conceptual and detailed calculations for large, customer-funded projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for

  1. Ensuring that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
  2. Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving calculations, analyses and technical reports.
  3. Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving technical specifications and method statements.
  4. Supporting estimates for bids.
  5. Supervising engineers/technical specialists within the same discipline.
  6. Ensuring that a fit for purpose approach is adopted in the production of all outputs.
  7. Ensuring that adequate Reviewing, Verifying & Approval is undertaken on all their deliverables and for those under their direct control and supervision.

Ideal candidate;

  1. Chartered Engineer preferred however, consideration will be given to those working towards chartered status.
  2. Competent in developing Finite Element models and undertaking linear and non-linear analysis.
  3. Competent in the assessment of structural/mechanical equipment against UK and/or European design codes. Ideally familiar with BS2573, BS EN 13001, BS7608, BS 5950.
  4. Competent in a wide range of classical stress analysis techniques for assessing mechanical and structural equipment.
  5. The ability to identify load paths and recommend design changes to ensure fit for purpose design before detailed analysis.
