Senior Stress Engineer

£40-50k base plus package


Experis are recruiting on behalf of our Client a leading Engineering Support Services organisation for experienced Stress Engineers to join their Stress Analysis function in Bristol.

Looking for Stress Engineers who can lead small project teams to deliver a variety of stress analysis projects for a variety of disciplines, including undertaking verification and approval of calculations

The main responsibilities of the role are as follows -

  • Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving calculations, analyses and technical reports
  • Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving technical specifications and method statements
  • Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities
  • Supporting estimates for bids
  • Supervising engineers / technical specialists within the stress discipline
  • Ensuring a fit for purpose approach is adopted in the production of all outputs
  • Ensure adequate Reviewing, Verifying and Approval is undertaken on all their deliverables and for those under their direct control and supervision

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

  • Engineering of Science Degree qualified
  • CEng or working towards gaining Chartered Engineer status
  • Demonstrable experience in stress analysis covering a variety of tasks and complexities
  • Demonstrable experience in the application of codes and standards covering a range of equipment types
  • Nuclear Industry or other safety regulated industry experience preferred
  • Familiarity in assessment of structural / mechanical equipment against UK and/or European design codes - ideally familiar with BS2573, BS EN 13001, BS7608 and BS5950
  • Competent in developing Finite Element models and undertaking linear and non-linear analysis
  • Competent in a wide range of classical stress analysis techniques for assessing mechanical and structural equipment
  • Ability to identify load paths and recommend design changes to ensure fit for purpose design before detailed analysis
  • Any experience in Seismic Analysis would be desirable but not essential
  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to interface with other disciplines
  • Drive and determination to professionally grow
  • Must be able to gain and maintain UK SC level security clearance
