Senior Stress EngineerWarrington - BirchwoodPermanent - £45,000 - £55,000 An opportunity for a Senior Stress Engineer to join the the UK's leading nuclear services company in their newly opened Warrington Business Hub, delivering a range of projects across the lifecycle of nuclear energy.They are a FTSE 250 defence and engineering global organisation, within this role you would be working within exciting large-scale nuclear design, manufacture, decommissioning and support projects.We're based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace; as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven engineers.Role ResponsibilitiesTo undertake engineering conceptual and detailed calculations in the delivery of customer funded tasks and projects. Work will be directed and supervised by the Technical Lead and/or Functional Lead for the relevant task or project. May act as a Technical Lead or Functional Lead themselves (dependent on task/project complexity) and hence may supervise others.Ensuring that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving calculations, analyses and technical reports.Producing, reviewing, verifying and approving technical specifications and method statements.Supporting estimates for bids.Supervising engineers/technical specialists within the same discipline.Ensuring that a fit for purpose approach is adopted in the production of all outputs.Ensuring that adequate Reviewing, Verifying & Approval is undertaken on all their deliverables and for those under their direct control and supervision. Role Qualifications & RequirementsAcademic:Engineering or Science degree qualified.Experience:Demonstrable experience in stress analysis covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities.Demonstrable experience in the application of codes and standard covering a range of equipment types.SkillsCompetent in developing Finite Element models and undertaking linear and non-linear analysis.Competent in the assessment of structural/mechanical equipment against UK and/or European design codes. Ideally familiar with BS2573, BS EN 13001, BS7608, BS 5950.Competent in a wide range of classical stress analysis techniques for assessing mechanical and structural equipment.The ability to identify load paths and recommend design changes to ensure fit for purpose design before detailed analysis.Competency in seismic analysis preferred.Good communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.To find out more please apply to this ad.
