Senior Sourcing Manager

About the role


Reporting to the Head of Category Management, the Senior Sourcing Manager will have responsibility for sub-category leadership, including strategy definition and execution across Projects and Business Units within Babcock. Objectives for this role will include:
* Establishing Project and Business Unit requirements, including those driven by the future bid pipeline
* Supporting business growth teams to design and engage supply chains that meet future requirements
* Delivering tangible, bottom-line benefits to the Division resulting from pan-Business Unit category management of Spend
* Supporting the delivery of Business Unit strategies through the appropriate application of supplier relationship management and the provision of category subject matter expertise.

The Senior Sourcing Manager will have responsibility for c. £15-30M expenditure across the defined sub-category.

Responsibilities

Category Management:
* Define category strategies that maximise value for the business based on understanding of business needs and supply market potential
* Builds deep knowledge of the supply market within the business
* Execution of the category strategy, including negotiating and contracting with suppliers, evaluating on-going contract and supplier performance and measuring contract compliance
* Provide subject matter expertise to the business through a Networked Function approach

Sourcing:
* Captures specific business requirements and builds into ITT or RFx documents
* Executes pan BU sourcing activity using strategic sourcing methodologies in order to put fit-for-purpose supply contracts in place
* Accountable for the implementation of pan-divisional contracts so that they can be used in practice by the business units
* Where appropriate, supports major bid activity where there is a significant category requirement

Supplier Relationship Management:
* Segmenting and managing suppliers within the category
* Executing the appropriate strategies to incentivise and engage suppliers and to measure and incentivise their performance
* Managing appropriate supplier governance, fed by relevant data and attended by empowered representatives of both organisations
* Ownership of overall contractual relationships where agreed

* Supplier performance that meets operational requirements of the Business Units
* Ensuring a strong health, safety and environmental ethos is applied throughout the supply chain;
* Excellent cross functional stakeholder relationships

What do I need to do the role?

Education & Professional Qualifications

* Qualified to degree level or equivalent
* MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications

Experience & Background

* Experienced procurement practitioner with knowledge of current strategic procurement techniques and c. 5 Years in Sourcing & Procurement
* Experience in category leadership
* Subject matter expertise in relevant categories
* Experience working in project environments at both bidding and delivery phases of lifecycle
* Proven track record of identifying and delivering procurement savings

Business Skills & Knowledge

* High quality communication ability, both written and orally
* Highly commercial, with a proven ability to use procurement to unlock value for the business
* Delivery focussed with a pragmatic, hands-on approach that enables strategies to be fully executed
* Ability to operate successfully in dual reporting or matrix organisations
