Senior Programme Manager (International)

PERMANENT, FULL-TIME, COMPETITIVE SALARY (DOE), HAMPSHIRE/SURREY

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Programme Manager to join a world leading Defence Technology & Security organisation, within International business.

You will operate across cultures to support our international teams in the execution of critical business growth activities whilst working in partnership with our group colleagues and enabling functions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide focused leadership for the safe and effective delivery of Major Programmes.
  • Delivery of Major Programmes that:
    - include a mix of standard, major and complex projects with critical interdependencies
    - include an element of complexity or significant risk that could have an impact from a legal/regulatory, operational effectiveness and reputational perspective
    - includes success criteria that is difficult to achieve and will have a major impact on the success of the customer
    - involves a broad range of senior stakeholders often with competing interests
    - includes a number of subcontracts, some with significant development work on the critical path.
    - are delivered through a large multi-disciplinary project team across multiple locations
    - has tight timescales and/or challenging budgets
  • Application of appropriate project governance in-line with the company's Operating Framework
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the customers
  • Management of external and internal stakeholders
  • Generate accurate work load forecasts to support resource planning within the business and functions
  • Develop and maintain key project document s including Project Management Plan, Risk Register and Project Reporting Pack
  • Effective communication to internal stakeholders of project progress, risks and timely escalation of project issues
  • Conduct Lessons Learnt during the course and at the completion of each project

Requirements

  • Previous demonstrable experience of delivering complex Programmes within an international domain.
  • Business & project governance and operations/strategy knowledge and experience
  • Degree qualified or equivalent ideally
  • Strategically focused
  • Able to exercise good commercial judgement
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Able to build confidence with senior stakeholders
  • Broad knowledge of the wider Defence and Security context

Security Clearance

If you are successful, you will undergo Ministry of Defence SC security clearance.
