Senior Policy Manager

Finance/Financial Services/ Financial Regulation

Central London


Job Purpose

  • Leading and driving the development, analysis and communication of policy solutions. Principal policy expert on financial services and regulation and its connection with consumer capability.
  • Enable the organisation active and coherent approach to shaping the external environment to improve consumer financial capability on areas including: financial technology (fintech), Open Banking and the sharing of personal financial data and overseeing work on access to financial services, the links between payments system and consumer capability.
  • Line Manage one or more policy staff, overseeing their work programme, providing support and a coaching their staff and contributing to developing a high performance and learning-focused collaborative working culture

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of designing, developing and communicating policy
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate complex issues clearly and confidently to non-technical audiences, face-to-face and in writing.
  • Awareness of and interest in financial services and consumer policy issues. Ability to scan policy horizon and interest in making practical connections across financial services and consumer issues.
  • Understanding of the UK political frameworks, policy development processes and key regulatory roles and bodies and their remits.
  • Expert collaborator, able to work across organisations to design and deliver new systems and approaches acting as an ambassador for the organisation and its corporate values.
  • Experience and expertise in gathering assessing and analysing consumer, stakeholder and market insights and applying these to focus and improve policy and strategy projects.
  • Expertise in producing and analysing sophisticated business cases/evaluation assessments on strategy and policy related projects and programmes
  • Proven expertise analysing data across multiple sources to understand and communicate the impact on consumers and implications for policy.
  • Experience of developing and managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level, creating and implementing engagement strategies, adapting quickly and adeptly to develop outcomes-focused relationships across different sectors.
