Our client currently has an interesting opportunity for a seasoned Infrastructure and Networking professional to join their expanding IT team.

We are looking for someone who very strong technical skills as the work entails managing a network environment utilising a wide range of technologies & vendors. We're looking for a team player who can communicate and collaborate effectively across the IT team and other parts of the business.

Principal Duties:

  • Manage efficient and functional network systems.
  • Manage network applications and network resources.
  • Recommend equipment or supplies that would enable the network to function more efficiently.
  • Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner to decrease downtime.
  • Ensure the completion of routine maintenance procedures.
  • Lead network-based projects, from inception to delivery & support
  • Prepare other related documents (e.g. policies and procedures, reports, system level procedures, network configurations).
  • Develop strong relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Perform periodical analyses of network

Knowledge Required:

  • Engineering experience encompassing the WAN, LAN and mission critical data centre networks
  • Significant and demonstrable core, distribution and access layer networking experience gained in large multiple site environments
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco switches and routers, including Cisco Nexus 7K
  • Expert knowledge of WAN connectivity, transport types and protocols, including Ethernet point to point and VPN technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of Palo Alto and Cisco ASA firewalls.
  • Advanced knowledge of routing and tunnelling protocols including BGP, OSPF, and IPSEC.
  • Advanced knowledge of high availability technologies & protocols such as Cisco VPC, VSS, HSRP and LACP
  • Advanced knowledge of network virtualization technologies including MPLS and VRF.
  • Advanced knowledge of network overlay technologies including Cisco OTV.
  • Advanced knowledge of QoS and NetFlow, particularly in respect to prioritising VoIP traffic.
  • Advanced knowledge of multicast.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco Wireless Access Controllers and Access Points.
  • Knowledge of voice and Unified Communication infrastructure including Mitel VoIP, and Microsoft Lync/Skype.
  • Knowledge of load balancing technologies such as F5 LTM & GTM
  • Knowledge of Linux & open source software
  • Knowledge of security technologies including intrusion detection and prevention.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Solarwinds and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).
  • Knowledge of network protocols - DNS, DHCP, WINS, LDAP and Kerberos
  • Knowledge of automation technologies such as Ansible, Puppet and Chef would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of other technologies such as active directory & storage networking etc.

  • Ability to manage full-scale infrastructure development, build, implementation projects.
  • Ability to mentor a team of IT Network Professionals.
  • Ability to handle a variety of challenging problems.
