Senior Mechanical Engineer - Rosyth
A market leading FTSE 100 company is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take on a permanent position ASAP. The company is highly regarded for its employee recognition and vital position in today's market place. You will be required to perform all aspects of Mechanical Engineering work in support of winning and delivering large scale process-engineering themed projects for key markets including marine and offshore liquefied gas transportation/storage and onshore petrochemical with end-customers of major worldwide shipyards and oil majors.
The main responsibilities of the role are as follows -
- Leading team of Mechanical Engineers on allocated projects with technical competence and technical sign-off.
- Prepare technical datasheets, material lists, calculations, engineering reports and operating/installation/commissioning procedures
- Check and approve mechanical engineering calculations and drawings
- Support development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's)
- Evaluation of vendor quotations for mechanical equipment and machinery
- Provide engineering support including to Suppliers and site
- Contribute to Design Review meetings
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to colleagues
- Technical communications with regulatory bodies, clients and vendors
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -
- Technical competence for the above responsibilities
- Clear and confident communicator
- Fluency in the English language (verbal and written)
- Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to lead tasks and work to tight timescales
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Good working knowledge of MathCAD, AutoCAD, AutoPIPE or similar packages is (desirable)
- Experience working to design codes (experience of ASME VIII, ASTM, BS and EN codes is desirable)
- Pipe Stress Analysis (PSA) and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience is (desirable)
- Good problem solving and analytical skills
- Experience of the following is desirable:
-Piping and piping components (valves, pipe supports, etc)
-Pressure vessels
-Hydraulic systems & equipment
-Mechanical process equipment (pumps, compressors, etc)
-Material selection
-Manufacturing/fabrication methods
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer Statue (desirable)
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience (desirable)
