My client is a well known pharmaceutical company based in Surrey. They are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team on a 6 month contract assignment.
This role would suit a qualified finance professional with 3-5 years post qual experience within large global companies. Pharmaceuticals experience is desirable.
You should ideally be immediately available, or on a maximum of 2 week's notice.

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for the timely and accurate monthly / quarterly / annual financial reporting and compliance with controls.
This is a contract role to support the team over the year end close ensuring all deadlines are met, helping to set up strong processes for ongoing management and to back fill as the current team run a number of projects

KEY RESULTS/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Timely and Accurate Group Reporting

· Liaison with Shared Service Centre to ensure timely and accurate reporting for all UK/Ireland companies
· Ownership of accounting and reporting on non-trading entities including supporting legal restructuring
· Manage Balance Sheet Review Process:
o Standard Review Methodology for all companies
o Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations completed
o Focused review in specific areas
· Identification of areas for increasing efficiency and harmonisation of activities
o locally (supporting the business)
o those designated to the shared service centre
o within the shared service Europe region

External Reporting

· Support for preparation of company statutory accounts (ensuring statutory accounts can be reconciled to management accounts)
· Any other external reporting requirements that may arise

Maintain Adequate Controls and Processes

· Ensure adherence to group policies for the above functions
· Ensure proper documentation of processes (both shared service and internal)

Project Work and Ad Hoc Duties

· Act as resource for UK/Ireland and Corporate projects
· Support to treasury team for cashflows as required
· Support on other areas as necessary

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal

· Point of contact for Shared Service Centre
· UK and Ireland finance team, Europe region, Pharma Ops Controlling and Corporate Accounting teams
· UK tax team
· UK and Ireland treasury team
· UK site finance teams

External

· Would be expected to be involved with Auditors

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Experience

· Fully qualified CIMA / ACA / ACCA
· Post qualified experience 5+ years
· Industry experience in large multinational 'multisite' companies
· Proven accounting experience

Professional Skills and Knowledge

· Excellent systems skills/experience (including SAP)
· Strong experience with Excel
· Good understanding of IFRS
· Team player
· Good analytical skills
· Able to Identify and solve problems
· Proactive and able to work on own initiative
· Sound understanding of internal control requirements
