Senior Commercial Officer
FTSE 250 Global Organisation - Competitive Salary and attractive benefits package

A rapidly expanding FTSE 250 engineering support services organisation are looking to take on a number of commercial professionals to work within one of its most successful project winning divisions in Bristol.

The Role

To provide commercial support and to ensure the commercial and business interests of the Company are optimised and its objectives met or exceeded. Commercial management or existing contracts (particularly the safeguarding and management of Intellectual Property), including contract changes, and the management of associated commercial risks, to ensure they are understood and adequately administered.

The main responsibilities are as follows -

  • Managing and protecting the company's Intellectual Property.
  • Variation control - drafting, pricing and negotiating contract amendments.
  • Management of commercial disputes and claims.
  • Supporting risk management activities.
  • Contract administration.
  • Managing commercial approvals.
  • Supporting tendering and new business development.
  • Contribute to the development of the Commercial function.
  • This role will also provide commercial support to bidding activities including:
  • Support and guidance regarding pricing, contractual terms and conditions, agreements, risk, governance and other commercial issues.
  • Support the commercial, project management and tendering teams at the Bristol office as agreed and support the applicable approvals processes.
  • Participate in and assure new business opportunities through the completion of commercial tendering and approval processes.
  • Assist and assure the Project Management function with respect to commercial contract management, including Intellectual Property compliance and protection, project control, variations, risk management, and control.
  • Lead and support as necessary commercial discussions and negotiations with internal and external customers.
  • Provide general management and contractual information, and assist with resource forecasts and costings, to ensure they are properly constructed and achieved. To ensure an accurate audit trail of commercial decisions is maintained and commercial administration is kept up to date.

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

  • Ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Law, Accountancy, or similar.
  • Skills and Experience:
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient IT skills.
  • Well organised, self-driven and proactive.
  • Experience in a commercial environment, ideally, defence contracting.
  • Experience of providing commercial support to operational contracts / projects.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills in a customer facing environment.
  • Detail orientated with good technical commercial skills.
  • Good organisation skills with methodical approach.
