Senior Commercial manager

FTSE 100 Global Organisation - £70,000 - £90,000 + Bonus + Benefits

A rapidly expanding FTSE 100 organisation are looking to take on a Commercial Manager to support high profile contracts and ambitious growth targets.

The Senior Commercial Manager will Work alongside the Commercial Director and Business Stream Director to develop and drive the commercial strategy and agenda to substantially grow the Business Stream, focused on short, medium and long term strategic growth targets. Furthermore, the Senior Commercial manager will provide commercial expertise and guidance to the Business Stream and address all associated commercial matters in accordance with best practice methodology, internal compliance and liaising with the Commercial Director and Head of Legal as required. Lead, and set the overall direction, for a small team of Commercial staff.

The main responsibilities of this role are as follows -

  • Reporting directly to the Business Stream Director (and functionally to the Commercial Director).

  • Acting as a key member of the Business Stream Senior Management Team, drive performance by providing input into the Business Stream strategy to meet performance targets.

  • Develop, implement and embed commercial strategy for the Business Stream business - aligned to the overall Sector commercial strategies where appropriate - focused on long term strategic business aims and capability enhancement requirements to support business objectives,

  • Act as 'champion' for the communication and embedding commercial strategy, initiatives, policies and procedures across business area of responsibility, business unit or division, interfacing with divisional Technical Hubs as appropriate,

  • Provide input to commercial policy, programmes, projects, methodologies and solutions in support of business' projects for greater co-ordination and consistency of approach (may be line of business, business unit or sector specific).

  • Support the execution of commercial policy, programmes and projects across business area of responsibility.

  • Act as a role model, consultant and 'commercial' coach to the Business Stream Senior Management Team, and mentor to the Business Stream commercial team in relation to commercial programmes.

  • Accountable for influencing positive employee relations within Business Stream commercial function, to maintain and improve business output requirements and deliver increased employee engagement.

  • Act as role model in developing and maintaining positive relationships with other Business Stream Directors,

  • Act as an escalation point within the Business Stream, where appropriate, for high risk, complex commercial issues

  • Produce timely and accurate management information, as required, in support of the business decision making process, bid/no bid decisions and bidding

  • Support the budget management process by providing input into financial reporting for the business' and commercial P&L.

  • Set the overall direction for a Business Stream commercial team

The successful candidate will display the following skills and experience -

  • Significant generalist commercial experience, demonstrating proven track record in delivering on the above accountabilities, and more specifically on driving the commercial agenda through the design and delivery of a business-aligned strategic commercial plan.
  • Proven track record of delivering significant contribution to business strategy, and to designing and delivering commercial strategies in large and complex organisations.
  • Proven success in commercially managing large-scale projects and complex change initiatives using appropriate methodologies.
  • Significant experience in providing commercial specialist input into bids and contracts.
  • Demonstrable evidence of developing and sustaining positive working relationships at a senior level, including the ability to negotiate and to influence business strategy.
  • People management experience and commercial consultancy expertise
