We are looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to work on a permanent basis for a UK multinational engineering support services business based in Leicester.

The organisation is an established industry leader in the provision of airport baggage handling systems. Tens of millions of passengers entrust their belongings through these baggage-handling systems every year. This role will support the Procurement Manager in providing hands on, day-to-day procurement support to the projects team based at the organsiations offices in Leicester.

The role will support the day-to-day operational needs, through providing timely quotations/cost estimating support to the bid development team along with procuring the right goods and services at the right price in the right time frame, in line with the project needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Providing timely cost estimating, quotations and other supply chain related information in support of bid development work.
  • Development of procurement schedules and plans
  • Delivery of an excellent procurement service; ensuring all goods and services are procured for the right price, in the right timeframe
  • Work closely with the QS team to ensure the flow down of appropriate Customer terms to the supply base including the review of sub-contracts and creation/issue of purchase orders as required.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with operational stakeholders across the business, based on the provision of an excellent Procurement service.
  • Conduct market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and contract award activities to meet the requirements of the project(s).
  • Provide feedback to the project team and Procurement Manager on the performance and capabilities of key suppliers,
  • Coordination of logistics/transport to ensure timely collation/delivery of parts to the required location/airside.
  • Monitor and report progress against the value plan on a monthly basis.
  • Contribute to Strategic Sourcing initiatives

Qualifications and Skills

  • Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management or Engineering related qualification (i.e. Degree / HNC/ Diploma)
  • MCIPS (or studying towards) - desirable
  • Experience of working in a projects based procurement function
  • Evidence of building and developing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of contract (NEC) terms and conditions - desirable
  • Good analytical skills and proficient Excel capability
  • Strong appreciation of the need for close cross-functional interaction across projects, confident with liaising with Project, Engineering, Planning, QS, Quality and Finance colleagues.
