Senior Bid Manager


£57,000 - £61,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

We are looking to recruit a Senior Bid Manager to work as part of a business development team for the UKs leading engineering and support services provider based from their regional office in Portsmouth.

This role is working within the organisations Emergency Services and Training business, which is one of the nation's largest private sector providers of vocational and skills training working in partnership with major employers across the Automotive, Emergency Services, Engineering and Service sectors.

This role is a vital part of the Business Development Team. The role manages major or strategic bids across the Emergency Services and Training business unit working with the Head of to convert bid strategies into compliant, innovative bids. The Senior Bid Manager role will include the project management of the bid process ensuring that bid teams deliver consistently high quality and winning propositions to time and budget.

Purpose of the role: To drive growth for the business by winning profitable new contracts through the application of high quality bid management practice

  • Manage and lead the development and implementation of winning bid strategies and solutions that are aligned to client requirements
  • Drive (and lead when appropriate) the development of the technical, commercial and financial solution that are compliant with/deliver client requirements and reflect the business strategy
  • Manage the full bid lifecycle - tracking through to submission
  • Understand customer requirements in order to develop win themes, value propositions and differentiators
  • Work with all Lines of Business to identify, prioritise and plan for future bidding activity

Candidate Profile

  • Strong bid and project management experience
  • Ability to understand and prepare tailored business solutions in line with the organisations strategic direction
  • Proven track record in winning bids
  • Have a thorough understanding of the relevant market sector, its players, and customer procuring procedures
  • Uses long term innovative thinking and networking to stimulate new opportunities or solutions
  • Analytical skills to carry out detailed analysis of data and solution data
  • Early identification of solution, commercial and corporate risks
  • Able to qualify and prioritise opportunities
  • Ability to assimilate technical and operational information into clear, concise bid and proposal documentation
  • Excellent PC skills including detailed knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and experience of other desk- top publishing packages


  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience (Business / contract law preferable)
