Automation Test Analyst (Dev in Test)

You will be based on site working with one of the UK's most digital organisations and leading the technology revolution across the public sector. With over 50 million customers at the heart of everything, they do the scope and impact of your work is limitless. As a team, they are not afraid to try new technologies and new ways of working.

The client has adopted an Agile and DevOps approach to delivery and live support. The team are expecting to move to a cloud based delivery approach in the near future.

About the role

A technically proficient tester who will provide test support and services across a number of high profile projects out of the Delivery Centre and to our Live service support team.

This role will involve producing deliverables from a technical test specialism in line with the Test Strategy. All testing is done through test automation; this is not a manual test role.

Essential Knowledge

  • Experience developing frameworks from scratch (Java / Selenium / Cucumber)
  • Minimum 3 years experience within Agile delivery - SCRUM and DevOps
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the testing of Enterprise Content Management and case management workflow solutions using software applications such as Documentum and Pega.
  • Experiencing of leading all functional and non-functional test phases regardless of whether the tests are executed by the feature team or by external teams.
  • Experience of operating within a self-organising team adopting a risk based approach to provide high quality software in a cost effective and timely manner.
  • Experience of Behaviour Driven Development.
  • Experience with test automation tools e.g. Selenium and Cucumber.
  • Expertise in, test environment provision and configuration and management, impacting, estimation and test data management.
  • Lead, guide and monitor the analysis, design, implementation and execution of the test cases, test procedures and test suites.
  • Exercise substantial personal responsibility and autonomy.
  • Plan own work and the work of more junior colleagues to meet given objectives and processes.

Desirable Knowledge, Criteria and Skills

  • Agile- Kanban
  • Experience of domain-driven design
  • Experience of using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery frameworks, practices and tools e.g. Puppet, Jenkins, Maven etc.
  • Experience of working in an SOA environment and/or microservices environment
  • Experience of dealing with 3rd-party suppliers
  • Experience of integrating Pega applications with Documentum or xCP
  • Experienced user of Atlassian tool set (i.e. Jira/ Confluence)
  • Knowledge of working in a Cloud environment
  • Experience of containerization (e.g. Docker)

Mandatory criteria

In addition to excellent interpersonal skills with a positive 'can do' attitude the successful candidate will have proven experience in the following:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of working with automated test tools, in particular SoapUI
  • Demonstrable experience of working with SQL
  • Collaborative team-working
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Attention to detail.
