Senior Analyst (Application Services) - Tunbridge Wells / Bristol / Bolton - 3 month contract

Senior Analyst (Application Services) required to join a multinational insurance company based in Tunbridge Wells, Bristol or Bolton on an initial 3 month contract.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the delivery of application and platform component services covering ecommerce and middleware systems


  • Take responsibility for providing regional service for a number of platform components and/or technologies
  • Ensure service delivery targets are met in an optimal manner
  • Coordinate the activities of the teams in support of designated systems (platform components)
  • Play a key role in projects to introduce new services or clients to the designated area
  • Maintain or develop effective client relationships in support of service delivery
  • Support and participate as required in regional ITIL processes such as Incident, Problem and Change management
  • Support the development of our monitoring capabilities using existing and new tools and monitoring scenarios.
  • Support the internal optimization and improvement programs
  • Play a key role in the internal support relationships with Regional and Global Command Centres and off-shore support teams
  • Assist in identifying, implementing and upholding quality standards in accordance with company strategy
  • Support the proximity team & support teams with local service issues & whilst delivering services

Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced senior support analyst with an excellent record in service delivery
  • Proven experience in resolving incidents and problem-solving in a timely manner, and managing change
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good understanding of project management principles, and the client's processes and methodology
  • Relevant ITIL process experience (Incident, Problem, Change)
  • Significant experience of the operation and maintenance of the platforms and components supported by the team
  • Business knowledge relevant to the team's support in order to assess potential business impact of issues with those services
  • Proven ability to understand, implement and utilise new technologies

Extensive knowledge and experience of a broad range of technologies relevant to our services, including specifically:

  • UNIX - Solaris and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • WINDOWS - Operating systems, IIS 6/7, ISA servers
  • Web servers - Apache/Romcat/Reverse Proxy
  • TCP/IP Networking and Firewalls - good understanding
  • Scripting - basic Shell scripting
  • Net
  • Ektron
  • Clustered J2EE Application servers - Tomcat, JBoss, BEA Weblogic
  • File transfer protocols (UDM, Connect Direct, SFTP etc)
  • Enterprise Service Bus platforms (ESB)
  • CISCO CSS and ACE load balancing
  • DNS - Windows DNS or BIND
