Job Purpose

To deliver Technology initiatives that support and continually improve operational efficiency through driving automation and operational excellent, and cost efficiency. Enablement of SLAs and efficiency targets, providing support for solutions based upon principles of high-availability, agility, scale and efficiency based on agile/lean principles and practices.

Responsible for supporting the cross-functional teams across Digital and Technology - monitoring the scrum processes and scrum meetings, increasing team efficiency, motivating the team, creating change that will ensure quality and timeliness, resolving internal team conflict and conflict with others.

Key Accountabilities

Leadership and best practice

  • Lead and influence and coach others including those more senior, on best practices to facilitate adoption and maturity of agile and DevOps practices
  • Define agile best practice tools and processes to promote effective communication between the Product team and their key stakeholders
  • Define metrics for product delivery and report on them
  • Build, develop and maintain virtualisation automation, monitoring and reporting tools
  • Review and improve prioritisation and product-intake frameworks and processes, ensuing use of best practice frameworks and promoting their adoption
  • Develop the Definition of Done framework, designing the appropriate governance forums, and promoting it across the organisation to encourage adoption
  • Participate in automation initiatives driving change and efficiencies
  • Run and review quarterly planning process across product portfolios
  • Know and understand the meaning behind our virtues of Empathy, Integrity, Focus, Connection, Speed, Curiosity, Impact and embody them in all aspects of your role.

Delivery

  • Define the plan - using support tooling (Wiki, JIRA, Align etc.) - and co-ordinate across the teams to enable effective collaboration as new features, products and services are conceived, developed and launch
  • Manage key initiatives, helping the product team operate as effectively as possible including collaborations, processes and tools we use and the way we communicate with our stakeholders
  • Working with Product team, ensure the backlog is development-ready and in line with our client's processes - meeting regulatory needs
  • Resolve issues that hinder the teams' work
  • Troubleshoot, resolve and assist in complex virtualisation and server related issues through code

Essential Skills

Technical Knowledge and Experience

  • Deep knowledge and significant experience of Agile methodologies and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, SAFe
  • Deep knowledge and significant experience of Product Development & Management tools (JIRA, Rally, Align etc.)
  • Deep knowledge and significant experience of tools supporting Enterprise Agile (Jira, Rally, Align etc.)
  • Good understanding of the holistic lifecycle of Software Development and previous experience of implementing DevOps tools within an organisation, proficient in the areas of product selection, hands-on tooling, with the ability to justify the use of DevOps in the organisation
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design
  • Understand and be an advocate of the DevOps culture and squad mentality in software development
  • Telemetry and use of information radiators and data driven decision making
  • Ability to learn new languages and technologies
  • Budget management

Leadership and Facilitation

  • Experience of leading multidisciplinary digital teams to deliver digital service from discovery, design, delivery, growth, continuous improvement to retirement
  • Excellent facilitation skills and change management experience
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, a passion for agile and a great team player

Academic or vocational qualifications and/or professional memberships without which this role cannot perform

Required Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
