A Boutique, US, Full-Service Investment Bank is currently recruiting a Research Associate to providing analysis coverage on high yield, distressed debt and special situation securities. The main purpose of the role is to construct detailed financial and valuation models while engaging in primary fundamental analysis on various industries and companies. The position will be expected to deliver independent analysis based on company financials, drafts and published desk analysis and provide presentations.

Main responsibilities include (but will not be limited to):

  • Provide support to Senior Analysts through fundamental analysis and investment recommendations on high yield, distressed debt and special situation securities with an emphasis on original, bottom-up analysis.
  • Lead all aspects of the building financial and valuation models, including but not limited to: constructing and maintaining operating and LBO models for focus companies, researching efficacy of quantitative factors; investigating and correcting issues related to data integrity; assisting on data integration projects; investigating different factor weighting schemes; developing multivariate factor models; and writing desk analysis reports.
  • Conduct primary research through industry sources including, but not limited to, financial analysis, due diligence on industry trends, company managements and strategies.
  • Build and update financial and valuation models that synthesise and assess financial, industry data.
  • Analyse credit documentation to help drive the formation of an investment thesis.
  • Write comprehensive desk analysis reports and present findings; draft reports/notes on relevant investment themes, events, and breaking news.
  • Respond to client and internal inquiries regarding desk analysis and directives.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects as assigned by Senior Analysts.

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background and have or be working towards a professional qualification (CFA, ACA), solid financial modelling skills and experience within investment banking (leveraged finance, M&A, or restructuring) or research (sell or buy side).
