R&D Engineer

R&D Engineer required to join a leading medical device manufacturing company in Waterford on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product & process development activities; writing protocols, data gathering, and analysis.
  • Drive new product & process development & qualifications.
  • Lead data analysis and provide recommendations on trends, correlations, response variables, DOE's etc. in an effort to better understand process interdependencies.
  • Lead process capability finalization for manufacturing and conduct complete transfer of mature processes to manufacturing.
  • Support requirement setting to define automation needs.
  • Reporting and presentation of data analysis.
  • Interfacing with and leading internal cross functional teams while working on these programs.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments. Drive data driven decision making.
  • Lead process optimization activities.
  • Develop and support new manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Support existing manufacturing processes, quality improvements and cost reductions.
  • Ensure product quality and all tasks are in accordance with established SOPs, GMPs, Divisional Specifications, and EHS standards.
  • Train manufacturing and junior personnel in required operations.
  • May be technical lead on projects

Requirements:

  • Degree in Scientific or Engineering Discipline.
  • 3-9 years in Engineering, Process Development, and/or Quality Engineering setting.
  • Hands-on experience and technical expertise in a development environment required.
  • ISO-9000, GMP, medical device manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or DFSS experience preferred. MiniTab/JMP Statistical software preferred.
  • Statistical analysis required within a development or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with high volume and/or high precision manufacturing a plus.
  • Computer Literacy with skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access, required with MiniTab, JMP (or equivalent software) preferred.
  • Experience & expertise in Statistical Analysis including DOE and SPC.
  • Communication, Organization, Report Writing, and Presentation skills a must.
