I am recruiting a Quality Inspector to work with a FTSE 250 Engineering Support Services Organisation in Bristol. This role functions within their Marine and Technology Division which provides vital engineering services to key clients, such as the Royal Navy.

The Inspector will evaluate and provide inspection services utilising a Laser Tracker, Portable Arm, and Portable Gage, CMM or other measurement metrology equipment. You will have responsibility for providing time estimates, interfacing with customers, ensuring completion of work and providing reports to internal customers as appropriate.


  • Perform basic and advanced inspection activities utilising appropriate equipment, e. Laser Tracker, Faro Spatial Analyser (SA) software, Portable Arm, Portable Gage, CMM or other measurement equipment.
  • Carry out statistical process analysis.
  • Produce easy to understand and visually appealing inspection reports that include written descriptions, 3D pictures and data tables to internal and external customer requirements.
  • Assist in the development of standard templates, operating procedures and documenting best practices.
  • Evaluate work packages and equipment working with engineers to develop and perform measurement plans for inspections, alignments and reverse engineering.
  • Estimate, plan and complete measurement and inspection tasks based on information presented by customer, which may include, but is not limited to, drawings, pictures, blueprints, CAD models and carrying out site visits.
  • Effectively communicate to both internal and external stakeholders scheduling arrangements, equipment, the status and completion of work assignments.
  • Present measurement capabilities to project teams and customers as appropriate.
  • Care and routine maintenance of equipment.

Required Skills and Experience

  • HNC/HND or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience of operating in a shop floor environment.
  • Experience with articulated arms, scanner or CMM.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude including algebra and geometry skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Hold a valid driver's licence.
  • Demonstrate good customer relations skills.
  • Be willing to work around industrial, mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as use hand tools and power tools.
  • Be compliant to health and safety requirements appropriate to the role e. wear safety equipment when necessary.
