Job Description Summary

This position is primarily focused on the delivery of IT infrastructure projects within UPG Transactions. Whilst the responsibilities are varied the role is primarily managing technical IT infrastructure implementation and software deployment into large Production data centre environments globally.

The PM is responsible for managing implementation projects effectively, predictably, to budget, utilising consistent technical standards and common methods of working without compromising current or future service levels. The PM provides a single point of contact into and within Technology Operations for a suite of projects, working closely with appropriate projects leads outside of Operations.

Job Description

Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Defines, documents and executes complex large-scale (>6 months / >10 FTE (equivalent of fulltime) staff) global projects, actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project.
  • Agrees terms of reference to enable costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful completion of each project to be estimated.
  • Prepares and maintains project and quality plans and tracks activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports as appropriate
  • Directs the implementation teams to complete activities in line with the project plan.
  • Holds regular project reviews.
  • Has responsibility to ensure project deliverables are demonstrably fit for purpose.
  • Gain commitments to ensure corrective actions are taken if costs, timescales or resources deviate from agreed tolerances.
  • Represents Technology Operations for the project change control procedure gaining agreement for revisions to the project from project stakeholders and ensure full impact of significant changes are understood by project stakeholders.
  • Ensures all parties are aware of project scope and milestones. Highlights divergence from that scope, and adjusts it where necessary to reflect changing circumstances.
  • Maintains effective relationships with the entire project team
  • All Projects are for the UPG Transactions Operations Project Group and are specifically related to the Transactions products including FXT, ET, TRTN, Dealing, Matching, and their Admin and Reporting systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree with recommended > 5 years relevant experience or non-bachelor degree holder with recommended > 8 years relevant experience.
  • Experience must demonstrate managing complex projects of various sizes, with external dependencies and teams based in multiple locations, to successfully deliver within specified timescales and budget.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to challenge decisions which may compromise operational standards and requirements, but respond pragmatically and in the best interests of the company.
  • Ability to manage changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Flexibility to work outside of local office hours to meet the needs of managing global project teams in a Production environment. The candidate is expected to manage their workload to ensure that this is only required occasionally rather than being the norm but occasional weekend work is likely.
  • Ability to become an authority on project process and governance and provide guidance, leadership skills and mentoring to other team members.
  • Ability through virtual/remote working to create and maintain successful relationships with Stakeholders from the Business, Development, Architecture and Technology Operations.
  • Technical Experience of Servers, LANs, WANs, Database's, SAN's and Management Systems is very useful.

Desired Skills (Nice to have in addition to the Required Skills), necessary industry experience and associated number of years of experience:

  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters and Transactions products is useful.

* Professional certification such as APM, PMP or Prince 2 is desirable
