Project Engineer

Location: UK Woking

Duration: 1.5 years

Main Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Lead Software Integration Engineer, you will be involved in the development of various electronic control units across the different functional domain of the vehicle (Body, Powertrain, Chassis, Hybrid, and Infotainment).

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible to deliver the development of the software aspects of the unit, liaising with other departments within Client organisation who are responsible for the delivery of the overall system. In addition to the definition of the functionalities of the ECU (Functional behaviour, Diagnostics definition, UDS and software flashing), you will be responsible for the generation of all the necessary documentation to support the supplier and the overall lifecycle of the software (including support to the final verification and validation). You will have to report to periodic software meeting updates, highlighting the status of the development of the software, update on any troubleshooting activities and you will be the point of contact for other departments whenever software related problems will be spotted across the business. The work involves cutting-edge EE platform technologies, with a wide and complex scope touching robust design, DFMEA, functional safety, feature decomposition, network communication, diagnostics, offering a great opportunity of personal and technical development.

Skills and Experience

Passion for the automotive industry, Passion for Electronic Controls, systems and Automotive EE Architectures, Good knowledge of automotive network protocols, e.g. CAN, LIN, UDS, and Ethernet, Good understanding of vehicle level system integration in terms of hardware and software, Significant working experience with Automotive Networks Analysis and Specification tools, such as CANoe, CANdela, DOORS, Good experience with design of electronic systems in line with ISO-26262

Able to employ fundamental engineering principles. Able to make sound judgements based on balance of risk, when data is not available. Highly organised. Able to multi-task and prioritise. Strong experience with development of electronic components from a project engineer perspective; Naturally technical, able to employ fundamental engineering principles and practical problem solving, High self-motivation, willingness to learn and develop Ability to work as a team member and also confidently alone
