About the role

Here at Babcock International we are looking to recruit a Project accountant to joint our existing finance team based in HMS Collingwood in Fareham

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will support and accurately report on the financial performance of our contract within Marine Training, to work closely with the Contract Delivery Managers, and other functions, to drive maximum profitability and efficiency.

Main tasks include maintaining stakeholder relationships with each of the delivery managers across the contract. This includes collating budget and forecast build-ups, discussing relevant MI and taking a lead in supporting their accounting requirements, preparation of month end accounts and subsequent balance sheet reconciliations complete with full backing and preparation and collation of financial information for contract review documents.

Other duties include:
* Pricing for contract amendments to suit the dynamic delivery of the contract. Including financial modelling, documenting and testing assumptions and testing / challenging stakeholders to ensure operational delivery method is robust
* Preparation of management accounts, forecasts, strategic plan and budgets, etc.
* Ownership and preparation of accurate and timely customer billing and associated billing plans
* Ownership of quarterly reporting required for customer review including quarterly summaries and cost certificates
* Maintaining the through life contract financial model including actuals and forecast to generate the 'Estimate At Completion' (EAC's). Developing towards ownership of the EAC over time.
* Ensuring Revenue recognition is aligned with IFRS 15 and Internal Finance Policies
* Perform the role in line with the Group's corporate governance policies, processes and procedures including those relating to Health and Safety and IAMM
* Maintain and deploy the Delegation of Authority in line with policy

What do I need to do the role?

  • Part Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA)
  • You will have the ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review
  • The ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed and the ability to maintain knowledge of industry and regulatory standards.
  • You will also have experience of Project/Long Term Accounting.
  • We would also like you to have extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Excel and in the use of other Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Word and Outlook, along with experience of SAP.
