I recruit for a FTSE 250 Engineering Support Services Organisation who is one of the UK's largest Specialist Nuclear Services Organisations who are looking to recruit a Production Planner.

You will ensure that materials and necessary supporting documentation are issued to the shop floor to enable production targets to be met, achieving optimum utilisation of labour and equipment.

You will liaise with other team members to produce production plans, monitor progress throughout operations, and drive the necessary changes to realign progress to plan. You will ensure that all necessary material and paperwork resources are made available in a timely manner to support the plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Capacity planning factory work load to achieve optimum utilisation of labour and equipment assets
  • Developing and monitoring production plans to achieve agreed delivery targets
  • Scheduling material deliveries and expediting internal/external suppliers to support production plans
  • Managing stock levels to ensure availability and minimise work in progress/stock holdings
  • Issue of works orders, supporting documentation, and material to support production plans
  • Monitor all plans and schedules, produce progress reports, and affect changes as required
  • Monitor performance against norms to identify and report deviations
  • Management of annual stock take
  • Input into new product development programmes and planning
  • Part of continuous improvement team
  • Attending progress meetings

Required Skills and Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience gained within a similar role in a manufacturing company, preferably fabrication
  • Experience/understanding of managing product trace-ability
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Computer literate and conversant with MS office packages, and experience of operating ERP/MRP software systems
  • Capable of designing Excel spreadsheets, to include the use of Pivot tables, v look up and other advanced formulas
  • Capable of producing production programmes using MS Project
  • Excellent stakeholder recognition
  • Persuasive and influential
  • Good communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Continually seeks to improve working practice, performance and productivity.
  • The ability to work under own initiative
