My client, a well known power company based in Leicestershire, is currently seeking a Buyer to join their procurement function.

This is initially a 6 month contract role but could progress into a longer term role for the right candidate.

You should ideally be immediately available or on a maximum of 2 week's notice, and will be required to work via your own limited company or an umbrella company.

Role Requirements

Responsibility for Commodity buying within the North Europe region, supporting Supplier Rationalisation and panel optimisation, commercial solidity, with tracking of key deliverables and ongoing schedule of work.

Responsible for the Cost, Quality, Fulfilment and compliance of all sourced products and services required to support the Business.

With support from the Parts Sourcing Lead Buyer, responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead Sourcing Negotiations, manage commodity sourcing for given commodities across multiple orders concurrently, create and manage Strategic Sourcing Deals giving benefits short, medium, long term.
  • Financial Savings/Cost reduction: Negotiate pricing and Payment terms on all purchase requisition volume assuring most competitive pricing is achieved without sacrificing Quality or fulfilment needs.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Manage all aspects of supplier performance including Purchase Order Pricing, PO Placement, and PO Acceptance, Supplier Promise date commitment, delivery confirmation and payment issuance. Manage and maintain on time delivery in accordance with Targets set.
  • Collaborate with other sourcing units and workstreams for Synergies of Agreements, Costing volumes and Commercial Terms
  • Be responsible for establishing strong working relationships with cross functional organisations to assure business needs are fully understood and translated into supplier strategy/requirements.
  • Take ownership of supplier performance & improvement from a Cost, Delivery and Quality perspective.
  • Be responsible for ensuring compliance to sourcing policies and procedures
  • Provide Flexible Responsive sourcing support to meet stakeholder's needs and specific requirements.


  • CIPS or equivalent Functional Sourcing qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Procurement, working for an industrial or Power Generation Company.
  • Strong It skills with SAP Experience
  • Ability to organise, access, prioritise tasks,
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Strong Customer services and results mind set
  • Strong influence in negotiations and key decisions
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and analytical skills.
