Process Chemist (NPI - Technical Transfer)

My client, a leading API manufacture, is currently seeking a Process Chemist with a PhD in Chemistry to join their expanding team.

In this role you will get the opportunity to work within a centre of excellence and be part of technology transfer of new drug candidates to commercial scale and the provision of technical support for existing processes on site.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Provision of technical support to the manufacture of APIs and Intermediates manufactured at Swords.
  • Collaboration with R&D to support the development and the technology transfer of new drug candidates to commercial sites.
  • Application of Lean tools and techniques to assess process robustness. Identifying and executing process robustness improvement projects.
  • Providing technical guidance in the understanding of root causes for out of trend or out of specification results or deviations.
  • Develop systems, processes and ways of working to improve operational robustness, right first time, through puts and yields.
  • Identification and implementation of process improvements for new and existing processes. Complete proof of concept experimentation and support through to commercial scale manufacturing.
  • Engage with Drug Product customers and External Manufacturing Organisation to support end to end product management. 

Required Key Skills and Experience Include

  • Strong technical background in chemistry.
  • PhD in Organic Chemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across a matrix is desirable.
  • Subject Matter Expert in relevant API chemistry, process development, project management and troubleshooting, process robustness improvement.
  • Demonstrated capability in the use of standard tools for root cause analysis and standard statistical tools.
  • Demonstrated capability in the use of various analytical/diagnostic tools including PAT and process safety (thermal stability, reaction kinetics and gas evolution, decomposition) would also be desirable.
  • Ensure that GMP, Quality, Health & Safety are considered in all aspects of the role.
