Principal Flight Test Engineer (Aero)

Head of Trials/ Flight Test Observer/ Flight Trials Officer

Permanent - Full Time

Wiltshire

Salary c. £45,000 - £54,000 + Full benefits package includes - Contributory pension scheme, share incentive plan, medical scheme, childcare vouchers and other leisure discounts etc

The Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of aviation trials. You will be responsible for overseeing and assuring aviation trials safety, maintain trials governance and provide trials engineering related advice. You will also assist in training and mentoring to trials personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist trials advice to trials engineers
  • Participate in trials design, hazard assessment and safety review boards
  • Review and technical approval of executive trials documentation
  • Conduct IDR through chair of Trials Readiness Reviews
  • Provide training and Mentoring to fellow Trials Engineers, Flight Test Engineers and supporting personnel
  • Identify, capture and share lessons and best practice on safe and effective trials execution

Requirements

  • Graduate Flight Test Engineer from an internationally recognised Test Pilot School OR 10+ years of experience working within Flight Test Engineering
  • Experience participating in flight tests and applying relevant skills to govern flight and safety tests
  • Significant track record of delivering safe and effective aviation trials on military fixed wing and rotary platforms
  • Knowledge of performance and flying qualities
  • Demonstrable experience of the use of UK test facilities
  • A degree or masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering or Avionics would be beneficial
