An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principle Consultant (Project Manager) to join a FTSE 100 company within the IFM (Incentivised Fleet Management) department based in Andover, Hampshire.

As a Principle Consultant you will be part of a team responsible for delivering a portfolio of strategic and tactical projects aimed at improving equipment support to the Army. The team work closely with the Army HQ to identify, develop and implement a broad variety of projects aimed at reducing operational risk, driving down enterprise wide costs and enhancing the quality of service.

The successful Consultant will lead the formulation, analysis and delivery of evidence-based consulting propositions for optimising the Army equipment enterprise and has a strong customer focus.

Candidate duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Responsibilities cover the full management consulting project lifecycle including scoping of new projects to meet customer requirements, developing project approached and translating these into commercial proposals, supporting the delivery of complex diagnostic studies and developing implementation and transition plans
  • Develop, in conjunction with the customer, project scope, desired end benefits and outputs/outcomes
  • Produce and maintain project documentation to ensure project requirements are effectively scoped, captured and understood, with changes managed formally (e.g. Project Initiation Documents - PID)
  • Ensure that the project is initiated, delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality standard
  • Ensure the project is effectively resourced, managing relationships with contributors and stakeholders
  • Manage the work of consultants, contractors and suppliers, allocating and utilising resources in an efficient manner and maintaining a co-operative, motivated and successful team
  • Act as first point of contact with the Project Sponsor, Project Board and other Governance Bodies
  • Lead and management team members in the delivery of projects
  • Design, deliver and facilitate client workshops and presentations
  • Implement and lead project management, resource, cost and quality assurance / governance reviews

Technical Experience and Qualifications

  • 4 years+ proven Management Consulting experience
  • Project Management Practitioner (APMP or PRINCEII)
  • Extensive experience of delivering successful projects and programmes
  • MS Project
  • Risk Management
  • Knowledge of Army Equipment and MOD systems
  • Engineering Industry Knowledge
  • Degree educated or relevant experience
  • Private sector Consulting experience
  • Understanding of business processes and identifying improvements
  • Full driving licence
  • Strong assignment delivery skills needed to lead and deliver complex projects to challenging timescales
  • Capability and flexibility in supporting IFM business development activity to help drive growth and new business opportunities
