Principal Mechanical Engineer (Machine Design)

Principal Mechanical Engineer required for the UK's leading supplier to the nuclear industry based in Warrington. With a mechanical department of around 270 professional engineers, you would be joining an unrivalled organisation as part of their mechanical design projects for nuclear licensed and highly regulated sites.

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide design solutions for the nuclear industry and coordinate the production of;
    • Design scheme, design proposal drawings and detail drawings
    • General assemblies and functional specifications/documents
    • Technical reports/studies and design justification reports
  • Technical guidance for all design work
  • Leadership and management of the engineering resources to deliver technical and engineering solutions
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of mechanical work package to programme, budget and quality
  • Engineering design governance
  • Management of Senior Engineers, Engineers and Designers
  • Identify or respond to task variations through formal change control

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience as a Principal Mechanical Engineer in the design of machinery
  • Ideally Nuclear industry experience but will consider others including defence and engineering
  • Able to manage teams of Designers and Engineers
  • Knowledge of common engineering materials
  • Working experience in CE marking process
  • Good knowledge of fabrication techniques
  • Ideally degree educated in Mechanical Engineering
  • You must hold or be eligible to hold Security Clearance
