I am recruiting an experienced Principal Control Systems Engineer to work with a FTSE 100 Engineering Support Services Organisation in Leicester. This role functions within their Marine and Technology Division which provides vital engineering services to key clients, such as the Royal Navy.

You will be working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace.

Responsibilities

The Principal Control Systems Engineer is required to join the Control System team. The role will be a mixture of hardware and software, taking designs through the full life-cycle of a project from system definition, through design, implementation, testing and commissioning. The ideal candidate would be experienced in programming in PLC, VSD and HCI software environments.

The role will involve actively leading staff and driving processes to ensure a high quality of technical output

Required Skills and Experience / Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or Computing (Control bias) or related qualifications & experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Significant industrial experience of control systems engineering within a real time environment.
  • Ability to lead a team and provide guidance and direction.
  • Experience of the detailed design and specification of Electrical & Control Systems.
  • Knowledge and practical development and fault finding experience, of at least one PLC system in depth; an ability to transfer learned knowledge across products.
  • Excellent communication skills, in particular specification and report writing.
  • Experience of "hands on" testing and commissioning of control systems, with the ability to fault diagnose and perform corrective actions safely.
  • A positive attitude with a desire to learn new skills and quickly adapt to using new systems.
  • Holds, or eligible to obtain, full SC Security Clearance.

The following would be beneficial:

  • Knowledge of TickiT plus.
  • HMI/SCADA experience.
  • VSD configuration (Control Techniques)
  • Design for military or aerospace products.
