Policy and Strategy Delivery Director - Central Gov, inside ir35

Home based role

Working at a Grade 5 level, Senior Civil Service you will have experience working for or with senior levels of central government departments, to drive and deliver policy and strategy changes.
This department is focused on supporting the voluntary sector to respond to COVID-19, alongside some 'business as usual' activity.

To be suitable you must have experience working with either Central Government / Whitehall Departments or in a senior Volunteering Sector / Charity Sector role.
Including work on Policy, Strategy, Grant funding, ideally aligned to Volunteering initiatives, Charitable Sector.

Current policy priorities include but not limited to -
- Volunteering Delivery: Supporting the voluntary sector to coordinate activity and link with local and national government effectively so that policy can be informed by the best data available and resources can be targeted to priority needs or gaps
- Volunteering Policy: Ensuring individuals have the guidance and support they need to volunteer safely during the pandemic; Ensuring the volunteering policy framework is responsive to the new patterns of volunteering that have emerged during the pandemic and into recovery
- Points of Light: oversight of the Prime Minister's Points of Light programme which recognises outstanding volunteers from the UK and Commonwealth

Candidates will be comfortable developing strong, credible relationships across Whitehall and the Charitable Sector.
- Demonstrate curiosity and independence of thought, and the ability to deploy these skills in new subject areas.
- Have a passion for bringing new ways of thinking into public policy development and they will know how to get things done in government, as well as how to work with the wider world.
You will have strong leadership skills, adept at building capability, developing talent and motivating a diverse and high performing team in an uncertain environment.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to successfully influence, challenge and negotiate, and to quickly gain the confidence of key customers and senior stakeholders.
A broad understanding of effective programme and project management techniques. Strong finance and budget experience.
