Policy Manager

Access & Payments | Consumer Finance | Financial Capability


Role Objective

To develop, analyse and articulate corporate policy; ensuring the organisation takes an active, evidence-based and coherent approach to key business plan priorities and wider policy debates.

To enable and support the design and implementation of corporate strategy and drive forward the organisations commissioning approach to improving financial capability of UK consumers.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience of designing, developing and communicating policy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to communicate complex issues clearly and confidently to a range of audiences, face-to-face and in writing.
  • Understanding of UK political frameworks, policy development processes and legislative contexts, including the devolved nations.
  • Experience and expertise in processes and methods for gathering consumer, stakeholder and market insights and applying these to public policy and strategy.
  • Expertise in analysing data across multiple sources to understand and communicate the impact on consumers and implications for policy.
  • Understanding and practical experience of applying economic principles to policy analysis.
  • Awareness of and interest in financial services and consumer policy issues, particularly an understanding of policy and regulatory issues of payments systems, access to financial services and advice from a consumer perspective.
  • Experience of working with internal colleagues and commissioned third parties to deliver complex policy projects
  • Skills and experience in influencing and managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level.
  • Capability to manage projects and tasks flexibly, taking on different tasks as required in a busy policy, strategy and research directorate.
  • Interest and experience in strategic commissioning and shaping organisational strategy.
