PCB Manufacturing Engineer

Contract - 9 months

Cheltenham

£30 - £35 p/h

Role Summary: Engineering associated with the PCB manufacturing process. Positions requiring understanding of a concepts, methods and procedures. Act as a technical authority in a range of the local PCB production Cells disciplines and equipment; governance and technical sign-off, for any Operations programme changes. Be responsible for work packages and delivery against business milestones. Where applicable lead a small internal technical team.

Responsibilities: Primarily PCB Manufacturing engineering tactical responsibilities.

Manage delivery plans with overall business awareness. Risk assessment and mitigation, with problem solving attributes. Has some autonomy in decision making.

Lead & co-ordinate small projects. Write machine programmes, develop new methods and evolve processes. Defines new methods/tooling designs and defines/advises on local operating procedures.

Interprets data and acts as technical authority for reports / data summaries. Recommends actions using Engineering knowledge and experience / judgement. Prepares and reviews procedures. Influences Design for Manufacture. Identify and implement the delivery of continuous improvement & the transfer of best practice.

Represents ME function by attends such forums as Design for Assembly/Design for Manufacture events, and vising on Technical & commitment. Is trusted to deputise for more senior ME functional team when required. Delivers training ME or operators etc.

Actively adopts best practice and encourage sharing. Acts as local champion for a best practice identifying areas of adoption. Knows process capability & limitations. Is able to identify/evaluate improvement opportunities, a plan for delivery - and execution.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in PCB Manufacturing). Highly experienced technicians with proven Technical support of PCB shop floor and minimum qualification of HNC will be considered.

Characteristics: Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently. Strong problem solving skills. Actively adopts best practice and encourage sharing. Acts as local champion for a best practice identifying areas of adoption. Knows process capability & limitations. Knowledge of FAI, PFMEA, MRL, MCRL and 6s. Is able to identify/evaluate improvement opportunities. Understand the requirements of related disciplines and Co-ordinate and support the requirements needed from ME.

Other: Understands essential concepts and applications of the specialized area. Aware of and implementing best practice.
