The role

As a member of Payroll Administration team, the successful candidate will undertake a range of administrative duties across the function without supervision.
To be an expert in one or more services and train, guide and support others with tasks as required.

Job description/Person Specification

Provides expertise in payroll and pension processing.

Delivers payroll administrative services to a high standard managing and completing tasks, using own initiative

Supports the development of other team members by giving guidance and training on payroll and pension processing

Resolves queries using judgement based on analysis of information and knowledge and experience of processes and services.

Delivers services across all areas of the business in line with business needs as determined by the Team Leader.

Supports the effectiveness of the payroll team by proactively seeking areas for continuous improvement, implementing improvements as well as supporting others with CI activities.

Key Capabilities:

  • Experience in payroll and pension processing.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with people at all levels.
  • Ability to use own initiative in non-standard situations without supervision.
  • Competent in the use of a range of Microsoft Office applications and information systems.
  • Good organisational and prioritising skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Able to make decisions based on own knowledge and experience.


  • Must have a clear understanding of payroll and pension process
  • An understanding of what vlookups & pivot tables are & have some of experience of using them would be a distinct advantage.
  • Level 3 or equivalent business administration qualification and/or evidence of equivalent experience.
  • Working towards a Level 4 qualification/gaining equivalent experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • CIPP qualification preferred but not essential.
