Operations Director - £110,000 + 20% Bonus + Car + benefits - FTSE 250 engineering organisation

I am recruiting on behalf of a FTSE 250 engineering organisation and market leader in providing engineering support to critical services throughout the UK.

We are currently looking for an accomplished Operations Director to manage the successful and safe delivery of the baggage operations and maintenance contract at one of the world's busiest airports. Furthermore, as the division grows, you may take responsability for other airports in both the UK and overseas.

This is a high profile position, managing vitally important and challenging client relationships, whilst ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of one of the most critical services within the airport.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Actively lead, support and drive safety performance within the Baggage O&M business and lead on safety improvement plans.
  • Deliver operational and financial performance of the Baggage O&M business.
  • Provide leadership to the Baggage O&M Management Team and ensure excellent levels of communication throughout the team and wider business.
  • Assist in the development of succession plans for the business and to aid further people development.
  • Lead ongoing transformation and change programmes within the contract, ensuring transition is delivered to schedule and performance is delivered and maintained.
  • Take responsibility for first line crisis management, as and when required, and to act as a secondary point of escalation.
  • Organise and manage technical and transition support for Bid Development and/or on new contracts.
  • Deputise as required for the Director, Airports.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with appropriate customers.
  • Foster a culture of trust and employee engagement.
  • Drive best practice and make a significant input into the continuous improvement of all working practices, helping to further create an efficient and safe working environment.
  • Protect the information assets of the Company and comply with the Company's Information Assurance policies and procedures at all times.
  • To carry out any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs.

Experience:

  • Experience of leading the successful deliver of complex operational contracts.
  • An engineering background and acute awareness of the challenges presented by such an environment.
  • A proven Track record of delivering continuous improvement.
  • An ability to motivate, lead and instil confidence within diverse teams
  • High level stakeholder engagement and management
