Network Engineer

6 Month Contract

£220 - £275 per day

Location: Reading or Leicester

My client are a one of the leading and largest manufacturing businesses in the world. We are on the look out for an experienced network engineer to work within our Network Operations and Project Support team. Travel is required within this position but expenses are covered

Main Responsibilities of the role:

  • Manage the Network Support Incident queue ensuring timely resolution of incidents to drive KPI target adherence, working with suppliers where necessary, effectively escalating critical incidents and participating/leading technically in major incident resolution.
  • Provide 24/7/364 out of hours support on a 1 in 3 rota basis to all BU's within the UK and Ireland that within the Clients UK Network teams responsibility.
  • In depth and demonstrable understanding of Cisco WAN, LAN and wireless infrastructure with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Maintain accurate and meaningful records relating to incidents to enable full audit analysis and problem management, as well as ensuring that a consistent approach to incident handling is maintained.
  • Undertake incident lifecycle reviews to improve the efficiency of incident detection, diagnosis, repair and restore.
  • Exposure to Just In Time manufacturing with a clear understanding of potential business impacts Network Service loses can inflict
  • Willingness and ability (requires own transport) to travel across the UK to implement Network projects as and when required at Client Manufacturing and Distribution sites
  • Work closely with the Problem lead to identify reactive and proactive problems, analyse root cause and reduce incident volume.
  • Experience with robust Change Management processes and an understanding of Enterprise Process compliance
