MRP Planner


6-month initial contract

Rates up to £25 p/h dependant on experience

Job Purpose:

The MRP Planner is responsible for ensuring the supply of materials and build documentation meet master production schedule requirements to ensure on time delivery of products. Reporting to the Materials Leader the role will involve maintaining accurate work order data and working with all functions to ensure the timely supply of shortage materials and documentation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Own Mid & Short term production planning to meet business requirement
  • Demand Release to kitting - Pro-actively work with cross-function teams to resolve issues to maintain schedule
  • Own MPS accuracy - Start and completion dates. Report Actuals Vs Planned.
  • Supply (PO & WO) plan prioritisation
  • Lead MSOW - Drive cross functional alignment
  • Management of MRP actions messages and exceptions reports
  • Shortage management and reporting
  • Manage ASCP suggestions for assigned planner code
  • Discrete job management & commit date ownership
  • On time Planned Order Release - PORs & WO's
  • Ensure materials will be available for clean release into WIP & Quarantine items resolved
  • Shortages pegged to correct operations
  • Monitor change order request / eng revision
  • Own Handover - Communicate 'Make' Release to WIP Planner
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibilities,
  • Comply with regulations and policies in environmental, health and safety and quality,

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Own Mid & Short term production planning to meet business requirement
  • Execute Master Production schedule and Material requirements plan
  • Set priority for Work orders, monitor WIP, lead times and work centre queues
  • Serve as an expert on MRP system WIP management
  • Meet targets on; On-time delivery, quality and Inventory accuracy


  • Bachelor's Degree and /or 2 years' experience within similar role
  • Knowledge & experience in MRP planning methods, with at least 2 years' experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Well organised and must be capable of decision making, prioritising and working to agreed schedules and targets
  • Ability to communicate with ease and work with others
  • Word, excel experience (confident with maintaining Microsoft Excel databases)
