I am recruiting an experienced Motor Vehicle Panel Beater to work for a FTSE 250, global engineering support services organisation. This role functions within their Critical Services Division, and provides vital engineering services to the Metropolitan Police.

Supporting Metropolitan Police's motor vehicle repairs, you will remove, repair and re-fit damaged panels, including any plastics components. You will use appropriate alignment equipment to pull and measure vehicle chassis in a safe and efficient manner. This role will include prioritising and completing vehicles in accordance with the Met Police's procedures, standards and quality required. Also you would be responsible for ensuring that rechargeable damage is identified.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To remove/repair damaged panels and repair chassis on alignment equipment.
  • To carry out repairs to plastic components and carry out simple strip and fit operations when required.
  • To report to the Estimator any additional damage and check all required new parts.
  • To drive in a manner within the parameters of the law and ensuring that all police signs are covered appropriately.
  • To recognise/report on defects, identify recharge costs and advise the Workshop Controller.
  • To order all necessary replacement parts and ensure that no parts are fitted to vehicles other than those required to complete the work.
  • To interpret technical repair information and data from manuals, bulletins and computers.
  • Provide technical and diagnostic support to colleagues where required.
  • Ensure all QTIB bulletins, related procedures and supporting documentation are pro-actively read on a quarterly basis.
  • Ensure all parts returns are documented and returned in accordance with the procedures required.

Ideal Requirements:

  • Apprenticeship / C&G 1&2 / NVQ 2&3 in Motor Vehicle Body Repairs or proven experience.
  • 2+ years body shop experience.
  • Experience with alignment equipment and welding repairs.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Good level of industry knowledge.
