Medical Copywriter

6 Months



Essential Functions:

  • Develop high quality content for interactive media within branding standards
    * Ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory issues
    * Collaborate with team to ensure quality and timeliness of material
    * Research, write, and revise content to be used in communications assets including Web sites, online advertising, e-mails, social media, promotional materials, brochures, and interactive content
    * Must be able to work on multiple assignments over a given time period of time
    * Support Account Manager in brief writing and data collection
    * Interact with Creative Director or Associate Creative Director
    * Works with IA and Designers to integrate copy/navigation/design into effective Web sites
    * Responsible for creation of core message development related to key marketing campaigns (ie. Theme, Value Proposition, Core Content elements)
    * Must be capable of meeting deadlines.
    * Must be capable of working both independently and in a team environment
    * Involved in concept and idea generation in collaboration with design teams
    * Provide accurate and thorough reference information for written materials per AMA guidelines
    * Produce scripts in concert with in-house editors and proofreaders that meet or exceed client standards
    * Provide guidance, approval, and life-cycle management of content and message across all assets related to key marketing campaigns and communication assets

MINIMUM Requirements:

  • Experience with principles of interactive information architecture and navigation along with working knowledge of Web/interactive design and graphic tools and processes
    * Must have recent experience in marketing (preferably in the healthcare or pharmaceutical space), and creative copywriting skills
    * Demonstrated experience developing concepts and brainstorming independently or as part of a team Must possess journalistic and interviewing skills
    * Proven ability to write for healthcare professionals and healthcare consumers
    * Digital and pharmaceutical content aptitude required
    * Must be self-motivated and an analytical problem solver
    * Must have excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills as well as strong attention to detail
    * The ability to work in a team environment and independently

MINIMUM Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in English, journalism, communications or a related field required
  • 4+ years in an advertising or marketing agency, (preferably traditional and digital) and proven ability to write in interactive/digital is mandatory
  • knowledge of pharmaceutical healthcare marketing is a must and advanced editing skills are preferred
  • Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail
    * Experience writing to both HCP and DTC audiences (preferably both) is a must
    * Ability to actively contribute to strategic brainstorming, campaign development, creative brief development and creative execution
    * Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively juggle different writing demands
