OVERVIEW:

Our client are a growing global Pharmaceutical and Medical device company. Their focus is to bring niche products to the NHS and to support healthcare professionals in delivering excellent and competent patient care.

This is an exceptional 1st/2nd job for a person interested in career within Medical Affairs. The role will provide an environment in order to upskill in areas such as: Medical Information, Pharmacovigilance and Medical Affairs. Full training will also be provided as you learn the role.

You will provide scientific support for the business and be the point of contact for scientific advice and information on the disease areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and demonstrate deep and advanced disease awareness and product (including competitors) expertise with use of scientific and medical information, presented in fair, evidence based and rational manner for Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) and Healthcare Professionals (HCP)
  • Effectively communicating disease state and product knowledge, either formally or informally, through clinical and scientific presentations to KOLs in line with the ABPI/PMCPA Code of Practice
  • Responding to Medical Information, and Healthcare Professionals' enquiries initiated by commercial staff
  • Providing therapeutic area, products and ABPI Code of Compliance knowledge, regular updates and training to internal staff as required
  • Develop and grow engaging relationship with stakeholders, most importantly KOLs in relevant therapeutic areas
  • Contribute to Medical Affairs field- and office-based plans and activities
  • Utilising appropriate resources to stay current with scientific literature and be able to analyse data e.g. conducting regular literature searches and critical appraisals.
  • Provides compliant clinical and scientific training and presentations for internal and external target groups, ensuring fair-balanced and consistent communication of medical and product-medical information, within the therapy area and clinical strategies
  • Deliver presentations to healthcare professionals, ensuring appropriate guidelines are being followed
  • Attend relevant scientific meetings, congresses and symposia
  • Identify and develop peer to peer level relationship to support national perspective clinical and scientific experts. Maintain professional, credible and long lasting relationship with clinical and scientific expense to ensure future collaborative engagement
  • Respond to unsolicited questions through medical information with scientifically accurate, evidence based and fair-balanced reply
  • Organise/participate in national medical advisory boards and foster medical and scientific information exchange with KOLs
  • Integrate and deliver Medical Affairs Associate plan in line with SMPP Medical Affairs strategic plan
  • Continual compliance with all procedural requirements of role
  • Contribute through medical expertise to ensure proper medical and scientific information incorporate into market access activities. This includes reviewing material prior to signature approval.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are compliant, in line with company requirements and up to date



SKILLS/EXPERIENCED REQUIRED:

  • Strong knowledge of disease areas
  • Knowledge of local regulations and industry supported scientific education activities
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills to ensure effective dialogue with experts in the relevant therapy area and other NHS stakeholders
  • Excellent team work ability & strong interpersonal skills, including capability to engage in professional relationship building and networking
  • Highly motivated and capable of comprehending large amounts of scientific content, which is communicated in clear, concise fashion
  • Demonstrate success in self-managing priorities and multi-tasking projects
  • Ability to work effectively and share information within a team environment
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Expertise in literature identification and evaluation
  • Degree educated (Life Science degree preferred)
