Mechanical Technician - RAF Wyton

A market leading Defence organisation is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to take on a permanent positions ASAP. The company is highly regarded for its employee recognition and vital position in today's market place. You will be a driven individual who is looking to work in a fast paced environment with supportive team in a diverse and challenging environment.

The main responsibilities of the role is as follows:

  • Planning, controlling and carrying out the scheduled maintenance of the Defence Nuclear Emergency Organisation Mechanical major & minor Ground Support Equipment (GSE) in conjunction with the GSE Elect Tech
  • Maintaining the DNEO GSE stored at RAF Wyton
  • Recording the maintenance of the DNEO Mechanical GSE
  • Raising and clearing documentation in support of maintenance tasks
  • Ordering equipment and spare parts for GSE
  • Conditioning equipment and tools.
  • Inventory holder
  • Deploying on DNEO exercises in the UK as required
  • Responsible for reporting all accidents, injuries, nears-miss and dangerous occurrences promptly to Line Management.
  • Promote and maintain equality and diversity in the workplace.

The successful candidate will display the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering Motor transport and/or 3 years' experience in the armed forces or industry (Essential)
  • Hold full current driving license (Essential)
  • Good knowledge of MS office products (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with Tri Service and/or MOD practices and procedures (Desirable)
  • Field Electrical Power System (FEPS) mechanical trained (Desirable)
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work on own initiatives with defined guidelines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work unsupervised.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Has a good understanding of workshop procedures
  • IT Literate.
