I recruit for a FTSE 250 Organisation who are one of the UK's largest private sector providers of vocational and skills training. They work in partnership with major employers across the Service and Engineering sectors to help develop their people.

They are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanic to assess Apprentices. You will be required to support the progression and completion of an identified group of learners. You will be expected to observe and review candidate's progress in line with key aspects of their training within their workplace. This role will give you opportunities to draw on your business skills expertise to provide learners with the support and training they need to enable them to realise their full career potential.

This is a key role within the team engaging with and supporting the apprentices to ensure they complete their training successfully. You will need to be able to prioritise, problem solve and organise your own workload with limited supervision once established in the role. The role holder needs to have strong interpersonal skills, able to clearly communicate and build relationships with various team, apprentices and external contacts.


  • To deliver agreed performance targets
  • The assessment, progression and completion of learners in line with the VCQ code of Practice and Quality Assurance frameworks
  • To effectively manage diary to ensure all learners within your caseload are supported in line with company and contractual requirements
  • To attend and contribute to team meetings and standardisations
  • Gain feedback from employers and customers in line with company procedures


  • Qualified Vehicle Mechanic or demonstrable experience. Light and Heavy Vehicle experience is highly desirable
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills and be able to read and interpret information
  • Excellent organisational skills and a professional demeanour
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with other
  • A willingness to travel within the region
  • Be a self-motivated and possess a flexible approach
  • Excellent time management
  • Up to date industry knowledge to include legislation knowledge
  • Assessor qualification is desirable but not essential
