Our client, a world leading engineering organisation is currently recruiting a Material Planning and Logistics Operations Manager.

  • Every minute of every day, thousands of parts and materials from all over the world are shipped and delivered to their plants, ready to be utilised on their production lines within hours. At the same time, hundreds of customers from across the globe are handed the keys to their newly transported cars. A feat like this does not just happen. Behind this momentous undertaking are the Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) team, coordinating on a massive scale to ensure products continue to roll smoothly off the production lines and into the hands of the customers awaiting them.

  • As the MP&L Logistics Engineering Manager you'll develop and design processes for material flow and lead the physical logistics strategy from supplier to line-side Manufacturing Centre programmes. This will include developing and executing a robust programme plan within Launch Quality Operating System (LQOS) principles to guarantee a flawless launch.

  • The role will also encompass leading the planning resource of a material handling strategic partner (Lead Logistics Partner) to achieve right part, right place at right time in a minimal inventory environment. The Engineering team will drive value stream mapping (VSM), benchmarking and best in class (BiC) for both operations and facility needs. As such, this role is accountable for the success of the end to end logistics operation.

Experience Required:

  • In your role as a Material Planning and Logistics Operations Manager you'll have knowledge of material flows and physical logistics operations and their inter-relationships with manufacturing.
  • You'll be able to work independently, manage priorities, and identify issues and solutions using your own initiative and have a strong desire to make a difference to your team and the wider business.
  • You'll also be comfortable challenging and be able to use your engagement skills to influence varying stakeholders and suppliers to ensure a premium service is provided. Along with these skills, you'll have experience of project management and process improvement, and possess a keen eye for detail.
