Markit EDM Technical Lead

London

Position is going to be 6 months or longer.

£515.00 p/d

The candidate will serve as a technical lead in a development group and will be primarily responsible for the implementation and support of an enterprise data management system. Must be a team player who is flexible, adaptable, and willing to work in a dynamic environment.

Markit EDM is a data management platform that acquires, validates and distributes trade, operational, risk, finance and customer data. It creates a single, version of the truth in a consistent, fully audited environment.

EDM is a flexible solution that pulls any data types from multiple sources into a central hub. Customers are able to streamline front, middle and back office operations and create consistent versions of data in a fully audited and transparent environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Qualified and certified Markit EDM practitioner with experience of version 9.5 being an advantage
  • Conceptualization, design, and implementation of the selected EDM solution
  • Advanced knowledge of application design principles, patterns and practices, systems development and analysis
  • Take a leadership role in providing technical directions and process improvements
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture to ensure solutions and platforms are designed with capability and supportability
  • Develop positive relationships with business partners to better understand their needs, manage expectations, and deliver value-add solutions
  • Provide leadership and guidance in all team development efforts for successful project delivery and application and platform support
  • Participate in the management of key vendor relationships
  • Ability to develop solutions with Markit EDM, SSIS, MS MSQL, Oracle
  • Understanding of market data, portfolio management, trading, analytics.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified and certified Markit EDM practitioner with experience of version 9.5 being an advantage
  • 7-10 years in a technical, software development position for a large enterprise with a high performing technical team
  • Demonstrated ability to present and articulate application designs to enterprise architecture, and other development groups and tech leads for review and input
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to other/junior team members
  • Prior direct experience implementing a data management system (e.g. Markit, Eagle, Polarlake, DST, etc.)
  • Financial services/brokerage firm experience with in-depth understanding of advisory, trading, front office, and middle/back office integration
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven ETL experience
  • Multiple years of Markit EDM
  • Demonstrated experience in usage of reference data
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment and the impact on enterprise data management
  • Understanding of Enterprise Data Governance principles
  • Evidence of thought leadership/differentiated architecture or solution design
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with DevOps processes
  • Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle and ability to absorb and function within the LPL SDLC structure
  • Experience working within both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Broad background of software engineering skills on a variety of technologies, including: MS SQL, Oracle, Informatica, Tibco, MS .Net, Angular JS, and TFS
  • In depth knowledge of database technologies and architecture
  • Practical working knowledge of the following: XML, WSDL/Web services, flat file formats, Messaging
  • Ability to engage with clients/analysts as well as develop directly from requirements
  • Ability to work with other developers to identify overlapping or conflicting requirements
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
