Job Title: Marketing Data Analyst

Location: Canary Wharf, London

Reports to: Marketing Operations Manager

Rate: £250 - £300

This is a hands-on business-focused data analysis role, supporting direct marketing processes.

  • To provide data and analysis support for direct marketing & sales activity (80%)
  • To support the ongoing marketing systems integration project (20%)


  • Manage, manipulate & query data from multiple sources to deliver campaign data lists
  • Work with the marketing team to measure and improve campaign targeting effectiveness
  • Work with sales and marketing managers to identify, scope and structure potential analysis projects to deliver commercial benefits
  • Deliver descriptive and predictive analyses of customer, product, transaction and usage data to support sales and marketing functions (plus other stakeholders within the business)
  • Work with the Marketing Data team and the Business Systems teams to ensure that analysis outputs are available to drive sales and marketing activity
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects that require (or impact upon) marketing analysis, as directed by the Marketing Operations Manager
  • Undertake forensic analysis into systemic data issues to identify and understand any potential faults

Job Requirements

  • Broad understanding of the Data Protection Act and related legislation and regulation
  • Statistical and mathematical modelling and analysis



  • Good degree with high mathematical content (maths, stats, econometric etc)

General Experience


  • Data manipulation and analysis of data sets drawn from multiple sources


  • B2B experience
  • Publishing and/or legal sector
  • Previous exposure to direct marketing operations (highly desirable)
  • Experience and understanding of:
  • targeting models
  • segmentation modelling
  • marketing campaign analysis

Technical Skills and Applications


  • MS SQL Server (SSMS) - freehand T-SQL query writing
  • MS Office suite (esp. Access & Excel)


  • Data management/reporting using a Marketing Automation Tools (e.g. Eloqua)
  • Data management/reporting using SaaS CRM Tools (e.g. SalesForce)
  • Producing reports from tools (or similar) listed above
