About the role

Here at Babcock International we are currently seeking an experienced Marine Fitter who is motivated to develop and progress in to a supervisory role in the near future.

You will Service and repair ABP vessels in a safe and efficient manner using such skills and knowledge as required. This role will be based from the Gosport office and will involve working and travelling to ABP Southampton to undertake repairs.
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Carry out day-to-day servicing and maintenance repair requirements on ABP vessels and equipment as instructed in a safe, proper and economical manner.
  • Testing and diagnosing faults using recognised test procedures and techniques. Including sea trials were deemed necessary.
  • Carry out fault diagnostics on vessels and systems as required, following recommended repairs to completion.
  • To observe, recognise and report on defects and/or symptoms of impending failure.
  • Ensure all administrative and service documents are accurately completed and submitted as necessary.
  • Ensure all vessels are maintained to a high standard
  • To maintain ABP/Babcock equipment to the appropriate standards in accordance with Health and Safety, Manufacturer's specifications and in accordance with best practice
  • Actively maintain equipment and tools to a high standard, and report faults to your line manager.

What do I need to do the role?

As a minimum you will hold a formal qualification with relevance to Marine Fitting i.e C&G, NVQ or HND / HNC.
We would also like you to hold some or all of the following:

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to actively seek solutions to problems
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • An understanding of Health & Safety Legislation along with knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001
  • Knowledge of Marine technical specifications and maintenance requirements
  • Marine Repair and Maintenance Experience
  • Experience in the repair of Electronic systems
  • Experience in management of a small Marine repair team
  • Servicing and repair to high standard of Marine vessels.
  • Full UK Class B driving licence
  • Deputise for the Team Leader in their absence

What else do I need to know?
